How to Bake Squash

From freem

Baking squash is a simple and delicious way to prepare this nutritious vegetable. Here's how you can bake squash:

Ingredients: - Squash (any variety, such as acorn, butternut, or spaghetti squash) - Olive oil or butter - Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). 2. Wash the squash under running water and pat dry with a clean towel. 3. Cut off the stem and the bottom of the squash. Slice the squash in half lengthwise with a sharp knife. Scoop out the seeds and discard them. 4. Rub a little olive oil or butter on the cut surface of the squash. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. 5. Place the squash halves cut-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. 6. Bake the squash for about 45-60 minutes, depending on the size and variety of squash. Check the squash after 30 minutes, and if it looks dry, brush a little more olive oil or butter on it. 7. The squash is done when the flesh is soft and tender when pierced with a fork. 8. Remove the squash from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Use a fork to scrape the flesh of the squash from the skin. Serve hot.

Baked squash makes a great side dish to accompany any main meal. You can also use baked squash in soups, stews, or casseroles. Enjoy!
