How to Apply Advantage to Dogs

From freem

Advantage is a topical medication used to treat and prevent flea infestations in dogs. Here's how to apply it:

1. Choose the right dosage: Advantage comes in different dosages based on the weight of your dog. Make sure to choose the right dosage for your dog's weight. Using the wrong dosage can be ineffective or even harmful.

2. Prepare the application: Remove the Advantage tube from its packaging and hold it upright. Then, remove the cap and use the cap to puncture the seal on the tube.

3. Apply the medication: Part the fur on the back of your dog's neck, between the shoulder blades, to expose the skin. Squeeze the entire contents of the tube onto this spot. Be careful to apply the medication directly to the skin and not the fur.

4. Dispose of the tube: Once you've applied the medication, dispose of the tube and packaging appropriately. Do not reuse or empty tubes.

5. Watch your dog: Monitor your dog for any adverse reactions. Although rare, some dogs may experience side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, or skin irritation. Contact your veterinarian if you notice any unusual behavior or symptoms.

It's important to apply Advantage as directed to ensure its effectiveness and to avoid any potential harm to your dog. Additionally, it's important to follow up with regular treatments as recommended by your veterinarian to maintain your dog's flea prevention regimen.
