How to Anchor Objects in InDesign

Anchoring objects in InDesign is a useful technique that allows you to attach an object to a specific location within a text frame, so that the object moves along with the text as it flows and reflows. Here's how to anchor objects in InDesign:

1. First, select the object that you want to anchor, such as an image or a shape.

2. Next, position your cursor within the text frame where you want to anchor the object. You can do this by clicking anywhere within the text frame.

3. Now, go to the "Object" menu and choose "Anchored Object" > "Insert." Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut "Cmd+Opt+G" (Mac) or "Ctrl+Alt+G" (Windows).

4. In the "Anchored Object Options" dialog box that appears, you can adjust the settings for the anchored object. You can choose the position of the anchor within the text (e.g. top, center, bottom), the distance from the anchor to the object, and other options such as whether the object should be inline with the text or offset.

5. Click "OK" to apply the settings and anchor the object to the text frame.

Once an object is anchored, it will move along with the text as it flows and reflows within the frame. You can also edit the anchor settings at any time by selecting the anchored object and going to the "Object" menu > "Anchored Object" > "Options."
