How to Always Get out of a Green Side Bunker

From freem

Getting out of a green side bunker can be a challenging task, but with the right technique and practice, you can learn to consistently get out of the sand and onto the green. Here are some steps to help you get out of a green side bunker:

1. Assess the lie and the distance: Before you start, take a look at the lie of the ball in the sand and determine the distance to the hole. This will help you choose the right club and shot.

2. Choose the right club: In most cases, you will want to use a sand wedge. This club has a wide sole and is designed to help you get the ball out of the sand.

3. Open the clubface: To get the ball to lift out of the sand, you will need to open the clubface. This means that you will need to turn the clubface to the right (if you are a right-handed golfer) so that it faces away from the target.

4. Aim left: Because you have opened the clubface, the ball will tend to go to the right of the target. To compensate for this, aim slightly left of the target.

5. Take an open stance: To make it easier to swing the club along the line of your open clubface, take an open stance. This means that your feet, hips, and shoulders should be aimed to the left of the target.

6. Take a full swing: Take a full swing, keeping your weight on your front foot. You should strike the sand a few inches behind the ball, allowing the club to slide under the ball and lift it out of the sand.

7. Follow through: After hitting the ball, continue your swing and follow through. This will help ensure that the ball lands softly on the green.

Remember, getting out of a green side bunker takes practice. With time and repetition, you can learn to consistently get out of the sand and onto the green.
