How to Alter Startup and Shutdown Audio Files in MS Windows

From freem

If you want to customize the startup and shutdown audio files in MS Windows, follow these steps:

1. Choose the audio file you want to use for the startup or shutdown sound. The audio file should be in .wav format and should not exceed 30 seconds in length.

2. Rename your audio file to "Windows Startup.wav" or "Windows Shutdown.wav" (without the quotes) depending on which sound you want to change.

3. Navigate to the folder where the audio file is saved. Right-click on the file and select "Copy".

4. Click on the "Start" button, and then select "Settings".

5. Click on "Personalization" and then select "Themes" from the left-hand menu.

6. Click on "Sounds" from the bottom right corner of the window.

7. Scroll down to the "Program Events" section and click on "Windows Logon" to change the startup sound, or click on "Windows Logoff" to change the shutdown sound.

8. Click on the "Browse" button next to the "Sounds" dropdown menu and select the audio file you renamed in step 2.

9. Click on the "Apply" button to save your changes.

That's it! You have successfully altered the startup and shutdown audio files in MS Windows.
