How to Add Your Own Game Startup Music in Team Fortress

From freem

Adding your own game startup music to Team Fortress is relatively straightforward, and can be done by following the steps below:

1. First, you need to prepare the music file that you want to use as your game startup music. The file should be in a supported audio format such as MP3, WAV or OGG. It is recommended that the file be less than 30 seconds long to avoid any issues.

2. Once you have your music file ready, navigate to the Team Fortress game folder on your computer. This can typically be found in the Steam Library by right-clicking on the game, selecting Properties, and then navigating to the Local Files tab.

3. Once you have found the game folder, navigate to the "tf" subfolder, and then to the "custom" subfolder. If the "custom" subfolder does not exist, you will need to create it.

4. Within the "custom" subfolder, create a new subfolder with a unique name, such as "my_music". This subfolder will contain your custom music file.

5. Copy and paste your music file into the "my_music" subfolder.

6. Next, you will need to create a text file in the "my_music" subfolder named "sound.cache". This file will tell Team Fortress where to find your custom music file.

7. Open the "sound.cache" file in a text editor and add the following line:

  sound/music/my_music/my_startup_music_file_name.mp3
Replace "my_startup_music_file_name.mp3" with the name of your custom music file.

8. Save the "sound.cache" file and close the text editor.

9. Launch Team Fortress, and your custom music should now play during the game's startup sequence.

Note: It is important to make sure that your custom music file is not too loud or disruptive, as this could potentially violate the game's terms of service. Additionally, be sure to follow all copyright laws and obtain permission to use any copyrighted music.
