From freem

Final Cut Express is a popular video editing software developed by Apple Inc. Video transitions are an essential part of the editing process that helps to create a smooth transition between two video clips. In this article, we will discuss how to add video transitions in Final Cut Express.

Step 1: Import Video Clips

Firstly, launch Final Cut Express and import the video clips you want to work with. To import, go to File > Import > Files. Select the video clips you want to import and click on Import.

Step 2: Place the Clips on Timeline

Once you have imported the video clips, place them on the timeline in the order in which you want them to appear in the final video.

Step 3: Select the Transition

Next, go to the Transitions Browser, which is located in the top right corner of the screen. Choose the type of transition you want to apply, such as dissolve, fade, wipe, or iris. You can preview the transition by selecting it and clicking on the play button.

Step 4: Add the Transition

Drag the transition from the Transitions Browser and drop it between the two video clips on the timeline. The transition will be added, and you can adjust its duration by dragging the edges of the transition in the timeline.

Step 5: Customize the Transition

You can customize the transition by adjusting its properties in the Video tab of the Viewer. Here, you can adjust the start and end points of the transition, change its direction, adjust its angle, and adjust its timing.

Step 6: Save the Project

Once you have added the transitions and customized them, save the project by going to File > Save Project. You can also export the project to a video file by going to File > Export > QuickTime Movie.
