How to Add Track Markers in Audacity

From freem

Adding track markers in Audacity can help you mark specific points in your audio recording, which can make editing and navigation easier. Here are the steps to add track markers in Audacity:

1. Open Audacity and open the audio file you want to work with.

2. Use the zoom in and out tools to zoom in on the section of the audio where you want to add a track marker.

3. Click on the timeline where you want to add the marker.

4. Go to the "Transport" menu and select "Add Label at Selection."

5. Type in a name for the label in the pop-up window and click "OK."

6. The label will appear as a vertical line in the track, and a corresponding label track will appear above the audio track.

7. Repeat the process to add additional markers as needed.

You can also add markers while playing back the audio by hitting the "M" key on your keyboard at the desired points. This will automatically add a marker at the current position of the playback head.

To delete a marker, simply click on it and press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.
