How to Add Start Tiles to the Taskbar in Windows 8

From freem

In Windows 8, the Start Screen replaces the traditional Start menu from previous versions of Windows. However, it is possible to add Start Tiles to the taskbar in Windows 8. Here are the steps to do so:

1. Right-click on the taskbar and select "Toolbars" from the context menu. 2. Click on "New Toolbar..." from the sub-menu that appears. 3. In the "Folder" field of the "New Toolbar" dialog box that appears, type or paste the following text:

  %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

4. Click on "Select Folder" to add the new toolbar. 5. The new toolbar will appear on the taskbar, and it will contain all the items from the Start menu's "All Apps" list.

You can now access the Start Tiles from the taskbar by clicking on the double arrow on the far right of the new toolbar. This will open a drop-down list containing all the Start Tiles.

Alternatively, you can resize the new toolbar to show the Start Tiles directly on the taskbar. To do this, right-click on the new toolbar and uncheck "Show Text" and "Show Title" from the context menu. Then drag the edge of the new toolbar to resize it as desired.

That's it! You have successfully added Start Tiles to the taskbar in Windows 8.
