How to Add Scent to a Candle

From freem

Adding scent to a candle is a great way to enhance the ambiance and create a relaxing atmosphere. Here are some steps to help you add scent to your candle:

1. Choose your scent: You can use fragrance oils, essential oils, or even dried herbs or flowers to add scent to your candle. Choose a scent that you like and that complements the purpose of the candle (e.g., lavender for relaxation, peppermint for energy, etc.)

2. Melt the wax: If you are making your own candle, melt the wax in a double boiler. If you are adding scent to a pre-made candle, light the candle and allow the wax to melt slightly.

3. Add the scent: Once the wax is melted, add the scent to the wax. For fragrance oils and essential oils, add 1 ounce of scent per pound of wax. For dried herbs or flowers, add a small amount (about 1/4 cup) to the melted wax.

4. Stir the wax: Stir the wax and scent together thoroughly to ensure the scent is evenly distributed.

5. Pour the wax: If you are making your own candle, pour the scented wax into the container and insert the wick. If you are adding scent to a pre-made candle, carefully pour the scented wax over the top of the candle and allow it to harden.

6. Allow the candle to cool and harden: Once the candle has cooled and hardened, trim the wick to 1/4 inch and enjoy your beautifully scented candle!

Note: When using essential oils, it's important to follow safety guidelines and use only oils that are safe for candle-making. Some essential oils can be flammable and may not be safe to use in candles.
