How to Add Numbers (Using the Count to 99 on Your Fingers Method)

From freem

Adding numbers using the "count to 99 on your fingers" method can be a fun and efficient way to perform simple arithmetic operations. Here's how you can do it:

1. Start by holding your hands in front of you with your palms facing up.

2. To represent numbers from 1 to 5, simply raise one finger at a time on either hand, starting from the thumb and moving towards the pinky finger. For example, to represent the number 3, raise the index, middle, and ring fingers on one hand.

3. To represent numbers from 6 to 10, use your other hand and add fingers to the raised fingers from your first hand. For example, to represent the number 8, raise the index, middle, and ring fingers on your first hand and then add the index and middle fingers on your second hand.

4. To represent numbers from 11 to 15, put down all the fingers on your first hand and start again with one finger raised on that hand, followed by fingers from the second hand. For example, to represent the number 13, raise the index finger on your first hand and the index and middle fingers on your second hand.

5. Continue this pattern to represent numbers up to 99, using both hands to represent each number.

6. To add two numbers, simply count the total number of raised fingers on both hands. For example, to add 7 and 5, raise the index, middle, and ring fingers on one hand to represent 7 and then raise the index and middle fingers on the other hand to represent 5. Count the total number of raised fingers (8) to get the answer, which is 12.

By practicing this method, you can quickly and easily perform addition calculations without the need for a calculator.
