How to Back Up the Windows Registry Via Running Registry Editor

Step 1: Launch the Registry Editor Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box. Type "regedit" and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.

Step 4: Choose the Backup Location and Filename In the Export Registry File window, select the location where you want to save the backup file. Choose a descriptive filename and select the file type as "Registration Files (*.reg)."

Step 5: Start the Backup Process Click on the "Save" button to start the backup process. The Registry Editor will export the selected registry key to a .reg file and save it to the location you specified.
