Ingredients: - 4 ripe but firm pears - 1 cup of red wine - 1/4 cup of sugar - 1 cinnamon stick - 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger - 1 tablespoon of lemon juice - Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional)
Instructions:

2. Peel the pears and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove the core and seeds with a spoon.
3. In a medium-sized pot, combine the red wine, sugar, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and ginger. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves.

6. Remove the pears from the pot using a slotted spoon and place them in a baking dish.
7. Pour the wine mixture over the pears in the baking dish.
8. Bake the pears in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender and the wine has thickened slightly.
