How to Bake Orange Shortbread Stars
Orange shortbread stars are a delightful and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. Here is a simple recipe for baking these delicious treats:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened - 1/2 cup granulated sugar - 2 teaspoons grated orange zest - 2 cups all-purpose flour - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 1/4 teaspoon baking powder - 1/4 teaspoon baking soda - 1/4 cup orange juice
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, sugar, and orange zest together until light and fluffy.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
5. Add the orange juice and mix until a dough forms.
6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a disk. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
7. Once chilled, roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness and use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cookies. Place the cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
9. Once the cookies are cool, you can dust them with powdered sugar or drizzle them with melted chocolate for extra flavor and decoration.
10. Enjoy your delicious orange shortbread stars with a cup of tea or coffee!
Note: You can also store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 1 month.
