Backcombing, also known as teasing, is a hairstyling technique that involves combing hair towards the scalp to create volume and texture. Here are the steps to backcomb your hair: 1. Start with dry, clean hair that has been brushed out to remove any tangles. 2. Divide your hair into small sections, starting at the crown of your head. 3. Take a section of hair and hold it straight up with one hand. 4. Using a fine-toothed comb, insert the comb near the roots of the hair and comb downwards towards the scalp in short, gentle strokes. Repeat this motion several times until you have achieved the desired amount of volume. 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with each section of hair, working your way down the back of your head and then moving to the sides. 6. Once you have finished backcombing, use a soft-bristled brush to gently smooth the surface of your hair and blend the backcombed sections. 7. If you want to create a more dramatic look, you can use a hairspray to hold the backcombed sections in place. Spray the hairspray from a distance of about 8-10 inches away from your head. Note: Be gentle when backcombing your hair to avoid damaging it. Use a fine-toothed comb rather than a brush, as brushes can be too harsh and can cause breakage. Also, avoid backcombing your hair too often, as this can weaken the hair and make it more prone to breakage.
