The Maps app on the iPhone allows you to automatically avoid highways and tolls when getting directions to your destination. Here are the steps to do this: 1. Open the Maps app on your iPhone. 2. Enter your destination in the search bar at the top of the screen. 3. Tap on the blue "Directions" button. 4. Enter your starting point if it isn't already listed. 5. Tap on the "Options" button next to the route suggestions. 6. Toggle the "Avoid Highways" option to the on position. 7. You can also toggle the "Avoid Tolls" option if you wish to avoid toll roads as well. 8. Tap on the route you want to take to see the turn-by-turn directions. With these steps, the Maps app will provide you with a route that avoids highways and tolls.
