To apply for a Kenyan identity card, also known as a National ID card, follow these steps: 1. Gather required documents: You will need to provide a copy of your birth certificate, a copy of your parents’ national ID cards, two passport size photos, and a copy of your school leaving certificate or any other relevant document. 2. Visit the nearest Huduma Centre or Chief’s office: You can apply for a Kenyan ID card at any Huduma Centre or Chief’s office. You can find the nearest Huduma Centre using this link: https://www.hudumakenya.go.ke/centre-locator. Alternatively, you can also apply at the nearest Chief’s office in your area. 3. Fill out the application form: You will be given an application form to fill out. Fill out the form accurately and make sure to attach all the required documents. 4. Submit the application: Once you have filled out the form and attached all the necessary documents, submit the application to the officer in charge. 5. Wait for processing: After submitting the application, you will receive an acknowledgement slip. This slip will have the date when you can come and collect your Kenyan ID card. Processing usually takes around 30 days. 6. Collect your ID card: On the date indicated on the acknowledgement slip, go back to the Huduma Centre or Chief’s office and collect your ID card. Note: The Kenyan ID card is free of charge for first-time applicants. However, there is a fee for replacement or lost ID cards.
