===== 1) العهد القديم (Old Confederacy) ===== 1291 – 1798 * نشأ اتحاد الكانتونات الأول بين أوري، شفيتس، أونترفالدن للدفاع المشترك. * توسّعت الكونفدرالية تدريجياً لتضم 13 كانتوناً. * كانت العلاقة بين الكانتونات كونفدرالية بحتة: - لا دستور موحد - لا حكومة مركزية - كل كانتون مستقل تماماً في القوانين والضرائب والعملات * القرارات المشتركة تتم بالإجماع وفي قضايا محدودة مثل الدفاع. المجتمع والهيكل السياسي: * نظام طبقي ونفوذ كبير للنبلاء والمدن التجارية. * اختلافات واضحة بين الكانتونات الألمانية والكاثوليكية، والكانتونات الفرنسية والإيطالية البروتستانتية.
