=== Assistant: Thanks for sticking with me through this — your photos are super helpful. === Thanks for sticking with me through this — your photos are super helpful. What you have is an older LG TV (pre-webOS, pre-NetCast HD). On these, the menus are a bit different and sometimes Simplink (HDMI-CEC) isn’t under Option like on newer ones. On many of those models: * Simplink is its own button on the remote (sometimes labeled SIMPLINK). * If the remote doesn’t have that, it may still be buried under INPUT or SETTINGS (gear icon) → Setup / Options. * And yes, the blue button pulling up the DivX registration is normal on those older sets, not what we need. ===== 🔧 Things you can try with your remote: ===== # Press
INPUT
on your remote. - Look in the bottom or side of that menu for Simplink. - If it appears, toggle it Off. # Press
Q.MENU
. - Sometimes CEC toggles were stuck in the quick menu on this generation. # Press
SETTINGS (gear ⚙️)
. - If it only gives you Picture/Audio basics, look for a submenu called Setup or Option. - Simplink is usually in there if available. ===== ⚠️ Important ===== Some of the older LG TVs did not allow turning Simplink off in the software menu at all — they assumed you’d use the SIMPLINK button remote. If that’s the case for your model, then the only guaranteed fix is: * Use a CEC-blocking HDMI adapter (a $5–10 dongle that strips the control line), or * Swap to DisplayPort → HDMI adapter from your PC if it has DisplayPort (often these don’t pass CEC). 👉 Quick check: Can you press the INPUT button on your remote and tell me if you see “Simplink” at the bottom of that menu? That’ll tell us right away whether this model lets you disable it in-menu.
