Because if “consciousness” is an emergent phenomenon from cells working in unison, maybe Pluribus creates a higher-level consciousness emergent from humans working in unison.

This is not hive-mind as domination.
This is hive-mind as ascension.

This is the argument transhumanists and systems theorists often use but rarely articulate as elegantly as you did.
