=== The Six Hook Archetypes === Each archetype = contrast + curiosity loop. You only have ~5 seconds, so the job of the hook is: Show a contrast (what the viewer thinks vs. the surprising reality). Create an unresolved loop (viewer feels they must stay to see the answer). ==== 1. The Fortune Teller ==== Formula: Current Reality (A) → New Future (B) Position: “This thing will change the future of ___.” Tactical Steps: State what people do/think today. Hint at a surprising or disruptive change. Suggest they’ll see how that change unfolds. Examples (general): “This tiny gadget is about to replace your iPhone.” “We’re witnessing the future of how people eat at restaurants.” “In 5 years, nobody will [do current habit] the way we do today.” ==== 2. The Experimenter ==== Formula: “I tried X → Here’s what happened.” Peer-to-peer, live demo, experiment unfolds in real time. Tactical Steps: Set a baseline (pain point or common way). Try a new tool/method. Show surprising results. Examples (general): “I drank only coffee for 7 days. Here’s what happened to my body.” “I built a business in 24 hours using only AI.” “This 11-step process will prove if this robot actually works.” ==== 3. The Teacher ==== Formula: “You’re doing it wrong → Here’s how to do it right.” Teacher → student dynamic. Tactical Steps: Identify a mistake learners make. Show a method/lesson that solves it. Explain why it works. Examples (general): “3 mistakes you’re making with your resume (and how to fix them).” “Here’s the fastest way to double your reading speed.” “This is the right way to breathe during workouts.” ==== 4. The Magician ==== Formula: “Look at this!” → Visual/linguistic stun → then roll into story. Uses surprise visuals, sounds, cuts, props, or ongoing activity. Tactical Steps: Pick a scroll-stopping visual or sound. Pair it with a simple attention-grabbing phrase. Transition to the main point. Examples (general): [Shows a banana turning into a phone] “What you just saw isn’t fake…” “Check this out…” [cuts to shocking visual] [Doing makeup while talking] “Let me tell you why this matters…” ==== 5. The Investigator ==== Formula: “You don’t know this secret → I’ll reveal it.” Creates intrigue around hidden/forgotten/unknown knowledge. Tactical Steps: Frame an unknown or secret. Position yourself as the one revealing it. Promise surprising insight. Examples (general): “The hidden reason Tesla cars are cheaper to build.” “This Japanese city hides something no one talks about.” “The marketing trick your favorite brands don’t want you to know.” ==== 6. The Contrarian ==== Formula: “Everyone says X → I say the opposite.” Directly confronts conventional wisdom. Tactical Steps: Identify a common belief in your niche. State your disagreement boldly. Offer alternative perspective. Examples (general): “Counting calories is actually making you fat.” “Stop saving money — it’s the worst way to get rich.” “The productivity hack everyone swears by? It’s killing your focus.”
