Making a change like that on a world wide basis can result is mass starvation and potentially billions of people dying. If a system of society is going to work, it must work on a smaller scale. Not necessarily as small as a commune, which are typically smaller than 100 people, but there has to be some way of testing a system before implementation on a world wide scale. Also, the use of technology should not be a requirement to make a system of society work. A system that works should work with stone age technology as well as modern or future technology.
