La même hécatombe se produisit à Constantine et Oran : * Constantine passa d’environ 80 mosquées avant 1837 à moins de 10 actives en 1860. * À Oran, presque toutes les mosquées furent fermées ou réaffectées à des usages militaires entre 1831 et 1850.
