===== What happened ===== Your copy of The City and the Pillar was misbound at the printer. During mass production: * Large sheets (called signatures) containing pages from different books can be stacked, folded, and cut at the same facility. * Very rarely, a signature from one book (in this case, Autumn Street) gets bound into another book. * The result: a stretch of pages from an entirely different novel appearing seamlessly in the middle of your copy. This is not: * a known Gore Vidal publishing error * a known Lois Lowry text error * a later rebinding or repair Itβs a manufacturing defect that slipped past quality control.
